Lady from the window

Every day at 13.03 (in summer from June 1 to September 15 also on 15.03 and 17.03) with a peak adjacent to the tenement window, Artus Court - New Bench House looks to passers-by figure depicting a young XVII-century inhabitant of Gdansk.
The author of the figure is Ewa Topolan, sculptor derived from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Constructor mechanism is Tadeusz Nowosielski. Figure 'Lady of the box "refers to the already known in Gdansk moving figures in the astronomical clock in St. Mary's Basilica, moving angels in Oliwa Cathedral, goats Poznań City Hall, or other similar form in many European cities.
The idea of ​​the novel refers to Hedwig Łuszczewskiej - Deotymy (1834-1908) "Lady," first published in 1893 in Warsaw. The second edition of the revised title of "Lady from the window," was published in 1898. In 1959 he founded the theater, and in 1964 film adaptation of the novel, " this old romans" ​​was created after the 24-year old traveling with parents Deotymy - Vistula to Gdansk in 1858. The result was the fascination of our city and its history. In the novel has a very suggestive Deotyma color of Gdansk, and above all, a young resident of Gdansk - Hedwig, looking out the window a great building, in "romans" called the Amber House.
Inauguration of exhibition "Lady of the box" was held on June 1, 2001. Melody accompanied by Martini il Tedesco "Plasir d'amour", played on carillon Town Hall.
