The building was built between 1898 - 1901 for the General headquarters of the Prussian garrison in Gdansk.
After World War I, the Free City of Gdańsk, in the years 1918-1939, the object was the seat of the League of Nations High Commissioner for the Free City of Gdańsk. After 1945 the building became the seat of the Municipal Committee of the Polish Workers' Party.
In 1957, he was handed Club of Students of the Coast "Zak". Since 2000, a resident of the City of Gdansk to give the New Town Hall.
