Royal Chapel

The only baroque church in the main city of Gdansk. Founded on the initiative of King Jan III Sobieski as a temporary chapel for the Catholic parish of St. Mary's Church, which remained in the hands of Protestants. Gdansk is the work of Barthel Ranischa builder. Was built between 1678-1681, according to the architect of the Royal Tylman Gameren. The Baroque facade sculptures by Andreas Schlüter Younger.
In 2009, in front of the Chapel at the intersection of Causeway I and St. Spirit stood Fountain of the Four Quarters symbolizing the four historical quarters: Broad, High, Fisheries and Kogi. Four lions guarding its entirety - the symbols of Gdansk. Authors of the project are sculptors Ewa Koprowska and Lucyna Kujawa.
